The McDowell Mountains rise to the east of Scottsdale and span about 10 miles. The range is composed of miocene deposits left nearly five million years ago. The McDowells share borders with the cities of Fountain Hills, Scottsdale, and Maricopa County.
The city of Scottsdale has made its share of the McDowells a preserve, and has set up a wide trail network that is wonderful for camping, biking, hiking and plein air painting. Thompson Peak is recognizable by radio towers at the summit although I didn’t paint them into this painting.
Ready to hang in your home with a hand carved antique Eastlake frame.
Total size 11 X 12.5 inches.
